ABOUT
I'm a third generation carpenter, who didn't get the luxury of being able to learn (directly) from my predecessors. I grew up with my dad's old tool's scattered around the house and garage, and my mechanically-inclined uncle helped raise me in the ways of hard work and pride after my father passed. When my paternal grandfather also passed away, his shop full of tools passed to my sisters and I. He had a hope that we would take up the craft and keep his passion alive. Since then, I have channelled that sense of creativity and drive into a custom furniture business. I strive to carry on the respect of traditional workmanship and responsibility in all of my projects.
Where did "Zero K" Come from?
Much of my childhood was spent on and around the go-kart track. When my dad raced, his kart number was 0. Perhaps solely from his sense of humor... he added the letter "k" after it. Thus, 0K became a theme, with stickers being made and an attitude of adaptability and fun becoming the main facets of our family/team approach.
If you can't join em, beat em!
When I found these "0K" stickers, the red and blue Petty-theme struck a nostalgic chord with me (after all, I am named after Richard Petty, the king of NASCAR, and his son Kyle). The laid-back, fun-loving approach of our family racing team carries on in my shop. I do woodworking because I genuinely love getting to imagine and create pieces that never existed before, using tools and techniques passed down from generations. While I strive for perfection, I balance that with the fact that every imperfection helps to tell a story, and it's "0K" to let that story be told!
